Biochar is the carbonized biomass waste product of the process but it is definitely not waste. Biochar is produced throughout the process as biomass is continually continuously converted to energy what’s left is the biochar that is conveyed away from the CHyP engine to a storage container. BioPower did not invent biochar but we do make it better due to the extreme high temperatures of BioPower’s CHyP engine the purity of biochar is dramatically improved as a soil amendment which greatly increases crop yields due to the carbon’s ability to hold plant nutrients in place and reduce the amount of water plants need, BioPowers biochar is also loaded with graphene.
Graphene is one product that BioPower believes has unlimited potential. Graphene has become a valuable and useful nanomaterial due to its exceptionally high tensile strength, electrical conductivity, transparency and being the thinnest two-dimensional material in the world. At one item thick graphene is the world’s first discovered two dimensional material structure. It’s harder than diamonds 100 times stronger than steel and has the highest terminal conductivity and ability to distribute force from an impact than any known material and it’s purest form lab grade graphene sells for an average of $100 per gram and yet there are already too many uses for it’s mentioning here. Graphene is still relatively new and there is a lot of research going on with new discoveries of applications happening more frequently. It’s very satisfying to know that multiple revenue streams come from BioPower’s production process.
Biofuel is another one of BioPower’s products that will play a major role in the coming years as the world tries to meet its climate goal by 2050. As automotive manufacturers transition to hybrid and electric vehicle production to move away from burning fossil fuels due to the current climate policies it will cause a shift in the way fuel is produced and the top of fuel we use. While manufacturing new electric vehicles helps reduce CO2 emissions it does not automatically become the solution. Due to the number of existing vehicles and equipment they are globally it is not feasible to discard them, but to adopt technologies that will allow their continued use. One of the easiest ways to accomplish this is to change the fuel they burn to something more eco-friendly and sustainable. That’s where BioPower offers a solution. By making adjustments to the pyrolysis reactor, the same process that produces hydrogen for generating electricity now yields a fluid that is carbon-based and full of hydrogen energy-biofuel. When properly filtered you can pour it into a diesel engine and it burns cleaner and much better than fossil fuel diesel, and it’s sustainable.

Green hydrogen has a major role in the coming years in clean energy, manufacturing, industry, and transportation as the world tries to meet its climate goal by 2050. Currently, less than 1% of hydrogen production is “green hydrogen” and 95% of hydrogen is still produced from fossil fuels-a very dirty process with negative environmental impacts due to high pollutants. Although all hydrogen is high in demand and very lucrative (its value in 2022 was $5.50 to $9.50 US dollar per kilogram) we need to transition to using more green hydrogen. BioPower’s pyrolysis reactor produces more hydrogen than we use for making electricity, allowing for the surplus amount to be stored and sold on the open market.
